Spasmodic Torticollis

Neurological movement disorder also known as cervical dystonia. It ceases with sleep and with deep concentration may cease for a short time.

 Causes
  • Unknown, but possibly due to:
    • Genetics
    • Trauma
    • Malpositioning or head at prenatal stage
    • Anti-psychotic drugs

Symptoms
  • Intermittent muscle spasm causing head turning and tilting
  • Contraction of one SCM throughout the day

Treatment
  • METs
  • Botox injections
  • Soft tissue work on muscles
