Epicondylitis

Degenerative tendon overuse on wrist flexors and extensors. Medial epicondylitis involves the wrist flexors and is otherwise known as golfer's elbow. Lateral epicondylitis involves the wrist extensors and is otherwise known as tennis elbow, which is commonly seen in carpenters and drummers. 

Causes of Tennis Elbow
  • One handed backhand
  • Overuse
  • Poor technique
  • Small grip
  • Too tight strings
  • Heavy racket

Causes of Golfer's Elbow
  • Overuse
  • Poor technique
  • Throwing javelin or ball

Symptoms
  • Pain on palpation and resisted movement
  • Loose grip
  • Weakness in movement and pain may radiate down forearm

Treatment
  • Progressive resistance exercises
  • NSAIDs
  • Acupuncture
  • Sports massage
  • Frictions
  • Longitudinal massage and cross fibre
  • STR
  • Myofascial release
