ITB Syndrome

Otherwise known as 'runner's knee'. Inflammation of iliotibial band as it moves over lateral femoral condyle. Tested with Ober Test. 

Causes
  • Over pronation
  • Tight ITB
  • Leg length discrepancy

Symptoms
  • Pain in lateral knee
  • Pain running downhill
  • Pain ascending stairs
  • Click when leg bends to 30 degrees
  • Tender to palate

Treatment
  • Address cause
  • Sports massage (TFL and glut max)
  • Stretching
  • Deep frictions over epicondylitis
  • Longitudinal massage on ITB (can be completed independently using a tennis ball)
